PCXS Reloaded

PCSX-Reloaded is a PSX Emulator for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It is a continuation of the two previous PSX Emulation project, PCSX and PCSX-DF.

PCSX-Reloaded has jumped over several different development teams over the years with PCSX-Reloaded being the current main version of the emulator.

Recent version’s of PSX-Reloaded have appeared to of abandoned the PC builds of the emulator with primary focus now seemingly to be on the Mac OS X and Linux versions of the emulator.

It is considered one of the biggest competitors to PCXS Reloaded, however unlike PCXS Reloaded, PCSX-Reloaded is open source, allowing anyone to pick up the code and improve on it.

PCSX-Reloaded’s emulation is regarded as about on-par with that of PCXS Reloaded. While being a somewhat accurate the main focus of PCSX-Reloaded is to maintain a great compatibility while providing fast emulation speeds. PCSX also attempts to emulate the functionality of the PSX Bios, however it is very much a work in progress and doesn’t provide the same level of compatibility as the actual bios files yet.

PCXS-Reloaded also uses the same plugin specifications of PCXS Reloaded, allowing it to make use of the exact same plugins that PCXS Reloaded uses. This is a good thing as it ensures that certain features like the graphic plugins will have a continue focus on developing them further.
