Diddy Kong Racing
Diddy Kong Racing was developed by Rare for the Nintendo 64. It was a huge success, with over 800,000 copies ordered in the two weeks before Christmas 1997, and became one of the best-selling games on the console.
Rather than simply offering one track after another, it has an adventure mode in which you drive around a hub world to reach areas with different themes.
The game also introduced several characters who went on to star in their own games. As well as karts, players can race in hovercraft and aeroplanes.
