Conkers Bad Fur Day

Conkers Bad Fur Day
Released: 2001
Console: Nintendo 64
Developer: Rareware

Conkers Bad Fur Day is one of the sensational hits on the Nintendo 64. The game was developed by Rare, a company who developed a lot of the games that are regarded as hit classics. Conkers Bad Fur Day was their final game to be released on the Nintendo 64. The game was originally aimed at a younger, more family friendly audience before being pivoted to be aimed at a much older demographic.

The game makes use of graphic violence,  sexual, strong language, toilet humor and several film parodies. Far from being family friendly. While the game was critically acclaimed it sold poorly, many believe this was due to it being released at the end of the Nintendo 64’s life cycle, and a lack of advertising. Alongside the games very heavy adult humor, it does provide a very unique action platformer. The game makes use of a variety of different minigames and puzzles to keep the player interested.

Conkers Bad Fur Day would later see a re-release on the Xbox, while graphics were hugely improved, the games more adult nature was cut back, with previously provocative imagery covered up, and the more adult aimed words and bleeped out removing a part of what made Conkers Bad Fur Day such a hit.
