Valkyria Revolution PS4RT is an experimental, game-specific Linux runtime for the PlayStation 4’s Valkyria Revolution, from HekamiAeon, who also made the Sakura Wars and Star Ocean PS4RT runtimes. It prepares and runs the game’s original x86-64 code on the PC, supplies the PS4 services the game needs and draws with a Vulkan renderer derived from shadPS4. It is not a general PS4 emulator.
The tested opening sections play: the introduction, cinematics, subtitles, sound, menus, early combat, the first boss and saving and loading. It has not been played to the end. The release needs no compiling and bundles its own libraries.
The game renders at 1920x1080 inside, and output at 1440p or 4K is reconstructed with FSR 3.1 or an optional FSR 4, with sharpening, rather than drawn natively. The game’s own frame rate is kept, and keyboard and controller buttons can be remapped. No game files or firmware are included, and the project is not affiliated with Sega, Sony or AMD.
How to Set It Up
- Download the Linux
.tar.gz(not the source archive) and extract it. - Open a terminal in the extracted folder and run
bash Play-Game.sh --game "/path/to/CUSA06810", pointing at the CUSA06810 folder itself. - Later starts remember the folder, so
bash Play-Game.shis enough. - Change the resolution, FSR and sharpening in the game’s graphics settings; they apply live.

Valkyria Revolution PS4RT v1.2
Linux x86-64 release.
What’s New in v1.2
- Improved player launcher: Standardized the launcher as
Play-Game.shto match other PS4RT ports. Supply--gameon the first launch; later launches reuse the remembered, validated game directory. The previousPlay-Valkyria.shremains available for compatibility with existing shortcuts. - Cleaner source and distribution: Removed obsolete Windows packaging infrastructure and unused launcher logic, including the Tkinter folder picker. Tightened the public source export and excluded unnecessary documentation from the player archive.
- Restart Game: Added a Restart Game option to the PS4RT graphics overlay, with a confirmation prompt to avoid accidental restarts.
- Restored overlay assets: Added the overlay background artwork and recorded navigation, confirm and cancel sounds to the repository so clean portable builds include them.
- Clearer setup guidance: Improved the included
PLAYER_README.txtand first-launch error message for players who have not yet configured their game directory.
Features
- Original PS4 x86-64 game code running through the PS4RT Linux compatibility runtime
- 1080p, 1440p and 4K output (the game renders internally at 1080p)
- FSR 3.1 and bundled FSR 4 v07 support where hardware features permit
- Anisotropic filtering up to 16x and adjustable sharpening
- Custom illustrated graphics overlay with menu sounds, display-mode selection, and confirmation dialogs for Restart Game and Exit Game
- DualSense, XInput and keyboard support, with configurable launch-time mappings
- Save/load support with existing player saves and settings preserved
Compatibility
Tested on Fedora Linux through the opening three chapters, including cinematics, exploration, combat and initial saving/loading. The glibc 2.35 portable build and graphics overlay have also been gameplay smoke-tested on Fedora.
A complete playthrough has not been verified.
This release targets native x86-64 (AMD64) Linux CPUs. ARM64 devices, including systems running x86-64 binaries through FEX or Box64, are not officially supported. Other Linux distributions, including SteamOS, remain unverified.
Installation
Download and extract the Linux x86-64 runtime archive, open a terminal inside its extracted directory, and run this once with your own game path:
bash Play-Game.sh --game "/path/to/your/CUSA06810"
On later launches, the launcher remembers the validated game directory:
bash Play-Game.sh
You can supply --game again at any time to choose and remember a different valid game location. See PLAYER_README.txt inside the player archive for details. The --data-dir option remains available for custom save/settings locations; supply the same custom location on subsequent launches.
Requirements:
- Linux x86-64 with glibc 2.35 or newer
- Compatible Vulkan graphics driver and loader
- Python 3
- Your own extracted, plaintext Valkyria Revolution PS4 game files (CUSA06810)
Players do not need Podman, a compiler, or separate installations of the twelve bundled application libraries, including FFmpeg 8 and SDL3. No LD_LIBRARY_PATH setup is required for normal play.
The original game files and PS4 firmware are not included. See the repository README for source instructions, known limitations, credits and licensing notices.
