Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
Released: 2001
Console: PlayStation 2
Developer: Naughty Dog

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy is a 3D platformer developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony for the PlayStation 2 in 2001. After Daxter falls into Dark Eco and is turned into an ottsel, he and Jak set out across a world of islands, jungles and volcanoes to find the Sage who might change him back.

The world streams in as you move through it, with no loading screens between areas, and progress comes from collecting Power Cells and Precursor Orbs. It was followed by Jak II in 2003 and Jak 3 in 2004.

OpenGOAL, a native PC port built from a decompilation of the game’s GOAL code, runs it on Windows, Linux and macOS. The same launcher also installs Jak II and Jak 3.
