What you need: Def Jam Vendetta for the PlayStation 2, USA release (SLUS-20639), as an `.iso` or `.chd` from your own disc. Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, a Vulkan 1.3 graphics card, about 8 GB of free space and an internet connection once.

Def Jam Vendetta Recompiled is an unofficial native Windows port of the PlayStation 2 version of Def Jam Vendetta. Its settings program translates the game's code from the player's own disc to C++ with PS2Recomp and compiles it on that PC, which takes 20 to 30 minutes once, so the processor runs the game directly. The PS2's graphics chip is redrawn on the graphics card through paraLLEl-GS on Vulkan.

The picture goes up to 16 times the original resolution, scaled to the screen with AMD FSR, and matches can be played in 16:9 with more of the arena in view, while menus and movies stay 4:3. A Sharp 2D option keeps the HUD and text as sharp as the 3D, and the high-detail fighter models are used in every match, where the PS2 dropped to lower ones with three or four fighters.

Up to four players can play on controllers, with the keyboard able to take any slot, and Xbox-style pads vibrate. The camera can follow the game's own style, WWF No Mercy's or Wrestle Kingdom 2's, the match speed can be set to the original pace, No Mercy's slower one or any other, and everything can be unlocked without touching the save. Mod support is planned.

## How to set it up

1. Download the zip and unzip it somewhere with a short path, such as your Desktop or `C:\Games`.
2. Open **Def Jam Vendetta Recompiled Settings.exe** and pick your disc file, or drop it on the window.
3. Press **Next: build the game**. Microsoft's free C++ build tools are installed first if needed, and the build takes 20 to 30 minutes, once.
4. Choose your settings and press **PLAY**. The settings program offers new versions and rebuilds only what changed.
