Simpsons Wrestling Recompiled

What you need: A disc image of The Simpsons Wrestling for the PlayStation, North American release (SLUS-01227), as a `.cue` file with its `.bin`, dumped from your own disc. Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) or 64-bit Linux with glibc 2.38, and a graphics card with OpenGL 3.3.
Simpsons Wrestling Recompiled is a native port of The Simpsons Wrestling for Windows and Linux. Every function of the PlayStation game was translated to C with PSXRecomp and compiled for the PC, so the processor runs the game directly instead of emulating it.
Matches can be shown in 16:9 widescreen with more of the arena and crowd at the sides and the health bars moved to the screen edges. The game renders at up to 8K with anti-aliasing and without the PlayStation’s wobbling polygons, and runs at 60 FPS at the original game speed, with an experimental 120 FPS mode. The intro movies are skipped and every wrestler, both circuits and Bonus Match Up are unlocked from the start, all of which can be switched back off. Controllers work with vibration, two players can play on two controllers or a controller and the keyboard, and every button can be remapped in the launcher, which also offers updates.
Pausing a widescreen match puts the taunt labels back at their 4:3 positions until the game resumes, and the Linux AppImage has only been tested under WSL so far. The download contains no game files. It needs the North American PlayStation release, dumped from your own disc.
How to set it up
- Download the Windows zip and unzip it anywhere, or download the Linux AppImage and make it executable.
