What you need: Rage Racer (Europe, SCES-00650) as a .cue/.bin or .chd disc image, dumped from your own copy.

Rage Racer PC is a native port of Rage Racer for Windows, Linux and macOS, built from decompiled C source of the European release on a PlayStation compatibility layer. When you first pick your disc image it imports the assets it needs automatically, with no separate extractor.

It has a modern renderer, with an enhanced classic renderer a key press away, options for resolution, widescreen and frame rate, a mod manager and texture mods, and a scenario file for starting a chosen race directly. Experimental builds add ray-traced shadows and reflections.

The port is in alpha. This page follows the stable release rather than the experimental ray-tracing builds. The download contains no game data. It needs Rage Racer (Europe), dumped from your own disc; a Japanese disc also runs.

How to set it up

  1. Download the build for your system and extract the whole archive.
  2. Run Rage-Racer.exe on Windows, rage-racer on Linux or Rage Racer.app on macOS.
  3. Select your Rage Racer .cue (with its .bin tracks), Track 01 .bin or .chd when asked; the game prepares its assets and starts.
  4. Press F10 to switch to the classic renderer; video options are in rage-port.ini.
