Rage Racer
Released: 1996
Console: PlayStation
Developer: Namco

Rage Racer is a racing game developed by Namco and released for the PlayStation in 1996 in Japan and in 1997 elsewhere. It is the third Ridge Racer game on the console, after Ridge Racer and Ridge Racer Revolution.

It keeps the series’ arcade handling and drifting but gives it a darker, more serious look. Prize money from races buys new cars and upgrades, and players can design their own car decals. It was also the first game to feature Reiko Nagase, who went on to become the series’ mascot.

Native ports: Rage Racer PC, a decompilation of the European release for Windows, Linux and macOS.
