R4: Ridge Racer Type 4
Released: 1998
Console: PlayStation
Developer: Namco

R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 is a racing game developed by Namco and released for the PlayStation in Japan in 1998 and in the West in 1999.

Its Grand Prix mode has the player choose a team and a car manufacturer and race through a season told with short cutscenes, unlocking new cars along the way. It kept the series’ drift handling and added a softer, more stylish look, with Reiko Nagase as the series mascot.

R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 has a native PC port made by static recompilation.
