Macross VF-X2 Recomp
What you need: A disc image of Macross VF-X2 (Japan, SLPS-02237), dumped from your own copy, as .cue/.bin.
Macross VF-X2 Recomp is a native port of Macross VF-X2 for Windows and Linux, made by static recompilation with mstan’s PSXRecomp and the recomp-ui launcher. It targets the Japan release (SLPS-02237) and is one of a batch of PlayStation recompilations omegakatana92 published in September 2026.
The launcher selects the disc and settings, and the open-source OpenBIOS is built in, so no BIOS dump is needed; a retail BIOS can be chosen instead. The PSXRecomp runtime also offers optional enhancements such as faster loading and PGXP geometry correction.
The release notes report graphics, gameplay and performance as working on Windows and Linux, while the README still calls it a work in progress. The download contains no game data. It needs Macross VF-X2 (Japan, SLPS-02237), dumped from your own disc.
How to set it up
- Download the Windows zip or the Linux AppImage.
- Extract the zip and run
Macross_VF_X2_Recompiled.exe; on Linux, make the AppImage executable and run it. - In the launcher, select your disc image; a
.cuewith its.bintracks beside it is preferred. - Keep the built-in OpenBIOS selected, or browse to a BIOS dump from your own console, then start the game.
