Ape Escape
Ape Escape is a 3D platform game developed by Sony Computer Entertainment’s Japan Studio and released in 1999. The monkey Specter uses a helmet to make his fellow monkeys smarter and scatters them through time, and the boy Spike has to catch them all.
It was the first PlayStation game that required the DualShock: the left stick moves Spike and the right stick swings his net and other gadgets. The controls, humour and design made it a hit and started a long series.
Ape Escape has a native PC port made by static recompilation.
