SNK

SNK was founded in Osaka in 1978 and became famous for arcade games. In 1990 it launched the Neo Geo, a system sold both as the MVS arcade board and as the AES home console. The AES used the same cartridges as the arcade version, which made it the most powerful and most expensive home console of its time.

The Neo Geo was home to series such as Metal Slug, The King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury, and SNK supported it with new games until 2004. SNK also released the cheaper Neo Geo CD and the Neo Geo Pocket handhelds. The company went bankrupt in 2001 and was revived as SNK Playmore, now SNK Corporation.
