Sonic the Hedgehog
The 8-bit Sonic the Hedgehog was developed by Ancient and released for the Master System in 1991, with a Game Gear version soon after. It is a separate game from the Mega Drive original, with six zones of its own, including Bridge, Jungle and Sky Base, and Chaos Emeralds hidden inside the stages.
It plays at a slower pace suited to the hardware, and its soundtrack was arranged and composed by Yuzo Koshiro. It became one of the best-known Master System games, especially in Europe and Brazil.
An early static recompilation runs the Master System game natively.
