What you need: The Sonic 3 & Knuckles ROM from the Steam release of Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics, from your own copy.

Sonic 3 A.I.R. (Angel Island Revisited) is a native remaster of Sonic 3 & Knuckles for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android, made by Eukaryot. The game’s logic was rewritten as script code that runs in the project’s own engine, and the graphics, sound and level data are read from your copy of the game at start-up.

It plays in widescreen and adds a remastered soundtrack option, time attack, a Knuckles and Tails team mode, achievements, many optional fixes and extras, and mod support with an in-game mod manager. It is complete and playable from start to end, and the stable releases are updated regularly.

The download contains no game data. It needs the Sonic 3 & Knuckles ROM from Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics on Steam, from your own copy.

How to set it up

1. Download the build for your system and extract it (on Android, install the APK).
2. If Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics is installed through Steam on the same computer, the game finds the ROM by itself.
3. Otherwise copy Sonic_Knuckles_wSonic3.bin from your own copy into the game folder.
4. Run the game and change video, controls and the many game options from its menu.
