Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Released: 1994
Console: SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive
Developer: Sega Technical Institute

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the combined game made by attaching a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 cartridge to Sonic & Knuckles, released by Sega for the Mega Drive in 1994. It plays both halves as one adventure from Angel Island to the Doomsday Zone.

Sonic, Tails and Knuckles can all play the whole game, and collecting the Chaos Emeralds and then the Super Emeralds in the extra special stages unlocks Hyper forms and the true ending. It is often seen as the high point of the Mega Drive Sonic games.

Native ports include Sonic 3 A.I.R., a widescreen remaster that runs the game’s logic from scripts, and a static recompilation.
