Genesis Plus is a highly accurate Sega Genesis emulator, originally written by Charles MacDonald. It emulates all of the sound channels, fully supports six-button Genesis controllers and handles many different Genesis ROM dumps.

Genesis Plus puts accurate emulation ahead of extra features, unlike the Gens-based Gens32 Surreal. Part of its accuracy comes from using CPU and sound chip emulation code from MAME.

This made Genesis Plus one of the most accurate Sega Genesis emulators around, accurate enough to reproduce glitches that appeared in games on the original hardware.

Its work continues in Genesis Plus GX, a heavily improved version maintained by Eke-Eke, which is also available as a core for RetroArch.

Genesis Plus GX and the newer BlastEm are two of the most accurate Genesis emulators available.
