Flycast

Flycast is a multi-platform emulator for the Sega Dreamcast and the arcade systems built on similar hardware: NAOMI, NAOMI 2 and Atomiswave. It started as a fork of Reicast and is developed by flyinghead with help from other contributors. It is open source under the GPLv2 licence.

Games can be rendered at higher internal resolutions than the Dreamcast’s 640x480, and recent versions add RetroAchievements, force feedback, online play through DCNet and support for Dreamcast controller adapters. The emulator needs the Dreamcast BIOS files, which we cannot provide because they are copyrighted.

Flycast is actively developed. Stable releases are published for Windows, macOS, Linux (AppImage), Android, Nintendo Switch and Xbox, with more frequent development builds on the project’s own builds page. It is also available as a core for RetroArch. It is the maintained successor to Reicast, and we recommend it.
