Ruffle

Ruffle is a Flash Player emulator written in Rust. It plays SWF files made for Adobe Flash Player, so the games and animations left behind when Flash was retired in 2020 can still be played, without the security problems of the original plug-in.

It comes as a desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux, as a browser extension, and as a JavaScript and WebAssembly package that websites can add so that their Flash content plays in any modern browser. The Internet Archive, Newgrounds and many other sites use it this way.

Support for older content written in ActionScript 1.0 and 2.0 is very good. ActionScript 3.0, used by most later Flash games, is still being completed, but a large and growing share of those games now work too.

Ruffle is actively developed and publishes a new nightly build every day. It is free and open source under the MIT and Apache 2.0 licences.
