Gearcoleco

Gearcoleco is a ColecoVision emulator written in C++ by Ignacio Sánchez (drhelius), who also makes Gearsystem, Gearboy and Gearlynx. It has an accurate Z80 core, including the processor’s undocumented behaviour, and emulates the TMS9918 video chip and SN76489 sound chip closely.

It supports the Super Game Module and MegaCart cartridges used by many later and homebrew games, optional F18A video emulation, and the Super Action Controller, Wheel Controller and Roller Controller. Recent versions also emulate the Coleco ADAM computer, with its keyboard, floppy disks and Digital Data Packs. Other features include save states, rewind, run-ahead, shader filters and a full debugger. You need the ColecoVision BIOS to play.

Gearcoleco is actively developed. Version 1.7.1 was released on 27 September 2026, with builds for Windows, macOS, Linux and BSD, plus a libretro core. It is free and open source under the GNU GPL version 3.
