What you need: Your own Super Smash Bros. Brawl disc image for the Wii (USA, `RSBE01`) as `.iso`, `.ciso` or `.wbfs`, or the disc's extracted files. Windows 10 or 11 64-bit (a build for processors without AVX2 is included) or Linux, including the Steam Deck.

Brawl Recompiled is a native PC port of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The Wii game's PowerPC code, the main program and all 126 of its modules, is statically recompiled to C++ with the WiiCompiled tools, so the game runs as an ordinary Windows or Linux program rather than in an emulator. It is a work in progress: the menus, VS battles, the attract demos, the start of Classic mode and the opening of the Subspace Emissary have been tested so far.

The game can render at up to eight times its original resolution, in its own 16:9 mode or filling an ultrawide screen up to 32:9 with the menus kept in proportion. Frame interpolation shows it at 120 fps by default, or 180 or 240, while the game itself runs at 60. A menu in the game's own style holds the settings, save states in three slots, fast-forward and Gecko cheat codes in Dolphin's format.

Every gamepad acts as a GameCube controller with remappable buttons, the keyboard and mouse work for any player, and real Wii Remotes connect over Bluetooth. Saves are kept in the same layout as a Wii's, a virtual SD card lets Project+, Project+Ex, REX, Brawl Minus and Legacy XP load as they do on the console, and players of the port can meet online.

## How to set it up

1. Download the Windows zip or the Linux archive and extract it into a folder you can write to.
2. Start `Brawl Recompiled.exe` (on Linux, the program in the extracted folder) and choose your disc image or extracted game folder. The game's files are read from your copy.
3. Press F10, or Home on a controller, to open the options menu inside the game: graphics, controls, cheats, mods, online play and updates.
4. For Project+ and other SD card mods, copy the mod's SD card files into `Play\UserData\SD`.
5. New versions install from Options > System, or extract a new release over the old folder.
