Super Mario Odyssey is a 3D platformer developed by Nintendo EPD and released for the Switch in 2017. Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach to force a wedding, and Mario sets off after him aboard the hat-shaped airship Odyssey with Cappy, a living hat that can be thrown at enemies and objects to capture and control them.

The journey crosses sandbox kingdoms from the Sand Kingdom to New Donk City, each filled with Power Moons to collect, with 2D sections drawn in the style of the original Super Mario Bros.
