Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Released: 1996
Console: SNES / Super Famicom
Developer: Square

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a role-playing game developed by Square and published by Nintendo for the Super NES in 1996. A giant sword crashes into Bowser’s Keep and shatters the Star Road, and Mario sets out to recover its seven Star Pieces from the Smithy Gang.

Battles are turn based, but pressing a button at the right moment makes attacks stronger and blocks damage. Mario travels with Mallow, Geno, Princess Toadstool and Bowser himself. The cartridge uses the SA-1 coprocessor.

A native PC port exists: SuperMarioRPGSNESRecomp, an early static recompilation by mstan.
