Star Fox Enhanced

What you need: An unmodified ROM of Star Fox (Japan 1.0 or 1.1, USA 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2) or Starwing (Europe 1.0 or 1.1, Germany 1.0), dumped from your own cartridge. Hacks, betas and the competition cartridge are not supported.
Star Fox Enhanced is a native C++ and SDL3 port of Star Fox, built on UltraStarFox, a project that assembles the game from its source. The game logic runs at its original fixed rate while the picture is drawn at any frame rate from 20 to 480 FPS. Besides the original game it can play Star Fox EX, Team SFEX’s expanded version with its own campaigns and options.
It supports aspect ratios up to 32:9, six languages, up to 4x render upscaling and a long list of optional effects, from bloom and smoothing to enhanced lighting and ray-traced shadows on supported GPUs. The HUD can be rearranged, and controls, crosshair colours and audio can be changed. The release also has builds for iOS, Switch, PS Vita, PS5 homebrew, Xbox in Developer Mode and VR headsets, which are not mirrored here.
It is an alpha. The author says it was ported and coded with AI, using OpenAI Codex. The download contains no game data. It needs an unmodified retail ROM, dumped from your own cartridge.
How to set it up
- Download the package for your system and extract it into a folder you can write to.
- Put your ROM next to the program (
