Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
Released: 1995
Console: SNES / Super Famicom
Developer: Neverland

Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals is a role-playing game developed by Neverland, released in Japan as Estpolis Denki II in 1995 and in North America in 1996. It is a prequel to Lufia & the Fortress of Doom and follows Maxim, a young swordsman who is drawn into a war against the Sinistrals.

Its dungeons are full of puzzles solved with tools such as the arrow and the hookshot, and enemies on the map only move when Maxim does. It also has the Ancient Cave, a randomly generated 99-floor dungeon, and the capsule monsters, which fight beside the party.

A native PC port exists: Lufia II Recompiled, a static recompilation.
