bsnes is an open source Super Nintendo (Super Famicom) emulator originally developed by Near, previously known as byuu. It grew out of Near’s accuracy-focused SNES work, also used in higan, but concentrates on performance, features and ease of use.

It emulates all of the SNES coprocessors at a low level and includes true Super Game Boy emulation using the SameBoy core. Other features include an HD Mode 7 option, run-ahead to cut input latency, rewind, save states with previews, MSU-1 support, shaders and built-in game and cheat databases. Satellaview games are supported too.

Near released bsnes v115, the last official version, in 2020 and died in 2021. The code is licensed under the GPL v3, and development has continued in the bsnes-emu repository since then. Nightly builds are published for Windows, macOS and Linux, while v115 is available for Windows.
