What you need: A ROM of Yoshi (USA), dumped from your own cartridge.

YoshiNESRecomp is a native Windows and macOS port of Yoshi, made by static recompilation with mstan’s nesrecomp, which translates the game’s 6502 code into C.

Both single-player modes, two-player versus and the attract demo work, with both controllers supported. As the game has no battery save, save states are the way to keep a session. The author says AI tools were used heavily in making it.

The author believes it is fully playable. The download contains no game data. It needs Yoshi (USA), dumped from your own cartridge.

How to set it up

1. Download the Windows zip or the macOS (Apple silicon) zip and extract it.
2. Run YoshiRecomp.exe (or the macOS app) and pick your ROM when asked. The path is remembered.
3. Remap keys in keybinds.ini, which is created next to the program on first run. F6 and F7 save and load states.
