The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda is an action adventure developed and published by Nintendo, released for the Famicom Disk System in Japan in 1986 and on the NES in 1987. Link explores the open overworld of Hyrule and nine dungeons to gather the eight pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom and defeat Ganon.

The player is left to find the way with little guidance, buying items in shops and uncovering secrets by bombing walls and burning bushes. The NES cartridge had a battery to save progress, rare at the time, and a harder Second Quest opens after the game is finished.
