puNES is an open source Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Famicom emulator written by Fabio Cavallo (FHorse), who has worked on it since 2010. It has a Qt-based interface and also works as a player for NSF, NSF2 and NSFe music files.

It supports a long list of iNES mappers and UNIF boards, along with extras such as a cheat editor, video filters, and virtual keyboards for the Family BASIC and Subor keyboard add-ons. Video and audio recording is available when the FFmpeg libraries are installed. The interface has been translated into a dozen languages.

Official releases are available for Windows, in 32-bit and 64-bit versions with a choice of OpenGL or Direct3D 9 renderers, and for Linux as an AppImage. puNES also builds on FreeBSD and OpenBSD. Development is active: work-in-progress builds of the latest code are published between stable releases. puNES is released under the GPL v2 licence.
