Jabo's Plugins
Jabo was Zilmar’s partner on Project64, and his video, audio and input plugins shipped as the defaults with every release from the early 1.x versions to Project64 2.x. For more than a decade they were what most people used to play N64 games on a PC. Jabo never released their source code, so they could not be updated after Project64 went open source, and Project64 3.0 replaced them with its own plugins.
Jabo’s Direct3D8
The video plugin. It was fast, ran on modest DirectX 8 hardware and drew some effects that other plugins struggled with, and it offered anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering. High-resolution texture support arrived late and uses its own “Jabo format” naming, so it only loads texture packs made for it. Its accuracy has long been surpassed by GLideN64.
Jabo’s DirectSound
The audio plugin. It plays most games correctly with high-level (HLE) audio, and Azimer’s and Shunyuan’s plugins were the usual alternatives when it did not.
Jabo’s DirectInput7
The input plugin. It handles keyboards and DirectInput gamepads with Rumble Pak support, though NRage offers far more options.
Getting them
The plugins were only ever distributed inside Project64. The Project64 2.x builds in our Project64 download archive include all three: pick them in Project64’s plugin settings.
