Angrylion-Plus is a low-level (LLE) video plugin for Nintendo 64 emulators. It is a fork of angrylion’s RDP plugin, a software renderer that reproduces the N64’s graphics chip (the RDP) pixel for pixel and is the reference other plugins are measured against.

The original plugin was accurate but slow. Angrylion-Plus keeps its accuracy while spreading the work over several CPU cores, replaces the old DirectDraw output with OpenGL 3.3, and adds fullscreen, window sizing, screenshots, a settings window and Mupen64Plus support. Recent versions add integer scaling and a filtering mode between nearest-neighbour and bilinear.

Because it renders at the N64’s own resolution, it cannot upscale or load texture packs. It is the plugin to use when a game looks wrong in every other plugin, or when you want the image to look as it did on the console. It needs an LLE RSP plugin, such as cxd4’s RSP (Mupen64Plus) or Project64’s RSP with HLE graphics turned off.

Which download to pick

Each download is a single plugin file. Put angrylion-plus.dll in Project64’s Plugin\GFX folder, or the Mupen64Plus file next to the other Mupen64Plus plugins. For a GPU-accelerated renderer with the same accuracy and upscaling, see ParaLLEl-RDP, which is built into Rosalie’s Mupen GUI, simple64 and gopher64.
