- Console: Nintendo 64
- Released: 1996
- Developer: Nintendo

Mario Kart 64 is one of the Nintendo 64's most popular games and the first 3D entry in the Mario Kart series.

It was the first big leap since the original Super Mario Kart on the SNES, introducing polygon-based 3D tracks and, for the first time in the series, support for four players.

The move to 3D gave the designers far more to work with on each track, such as changes in elevation, bridges, walls and pits.

The characters and items, however, were still drawn as 2D sprites. Mario Kart 64 went on to become the second best-selling game on the Nintendo 64, with 9.87 million copies sold worldwide.
