Mupen64Plus is a cross-platform Nintendo 64 emulator based on Mupen64, which was originally developed by Hacktarux. Mupen64Plus was led for many years by Richard Goedeken (Richard42) and is now maintained by a team of contributors.

It runs on Windows, Linux, macOS and FreeBSD, and has been ported to Android, which makes it a popular choice for anyone not using Windows. It includes dynamic recompilers for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

Mupen64 originally followed Zilmar's plugin specification, but Mupen64Plus uses its own plugin API, so plugins written for Project64 and other Zilmar-spec emulators do not work with it out of the box.

Instead, the project maintains its own set of compatible plugins, and popular plugins such as GLideN64 also support Mupen64Plus. The emulator itself is a command-line core, and is often used through front ends or as a RetroArch core.
