# N64 Emulators

Nintendo 64 emulators let you play classic N64 games on modern devices. Emulators such as Project64, Mupen64Plus and 1964 run games like "Super Mario 64", "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" and "GoldenEye 007", and many support higher resolutions, texture packs and online play.

N64 emulation has had a long and difficult history. Early emulators such as UltraHLE, released in 1999, were groundbreaking but struggled with the N64's unusual architecture and the limits of PC hardware at the time. Over the years the emulation community has overcome problems like "plugin hell" and steadily improved compatibility and accuracy, helped by open-source development and better documentation.
