Kirpich

What you need: A ROM of Tetris (World) (Rev 1) for the Game Boy, dumped from your own cartridge.

Kirpich is a native port of Tetris for the Game Boy for Windows, Linux and macOS, made by etroimcasso as a reimplementation of the game’s rules and presentation. It takes the graphics and sound from your ROM on first launch.

Besides the original A-Type and B-Type games it adds a C-Type mode, a ghost piece, 80 colour palettes and achievements, with builds for x64 and ARM64. The code is under the AGPL, with some parts under the PolyForm Noncommercial licence.

The download contains no game data. It needs Tetris (World) (Rev 1), dumped from your own cartridge.

How to set it up

1. Download the build for your system and extract it (on macOS, open the DMG).
2. Start Kirpich and choose your Tetris ROM when it asks.
3. On first launch it extracts the graphics and sound it needs from the ROM.
4. Pick a mode, palette and options from the menu.
