What you need: A ROM of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (USA, Europe) V1.0 for the Game Boy, dumped from your own cartridge.

Overview

Super Mario Land 2 Recomp is a native Windows and Linux port of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, made by mstan by statically recompiling the Game Boy’s SM83 code into C, with the Game Boy video and sound emulated around it.

It adds an optional DX colour mode, based on a bundled third-party colourisation patch, and adaptive widescreen. It is an early release.

The author says AI tools were used heavily in making it.

The download contains no game data. It needs Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (USA, Europe) V1.0, dumped from your own cartridge.

How to Set It Up

  1. Download the Windows zip or the Linux AppImage and extract or unpack it.
  2. Run Super_Mario_Land_2.exe (or the AppImage) and point it at your ROM.
  3. Turn on the DX colour mode or adaptive widescreen in the settings if you want them.
