Emerald Recomp is a native Windows and Linux port of Pokémon Emerald for the Game Boy Advance, made by mstan by statically recompiling the game’s ARM and Thumb code into C, with the GBA video and sound hardware emulated around it.

It adds link-cable netplay for trading and battles, experimental Wireless Adapter support and a JIT cache that fills in code the recompiler missed and improves as you play. It is an early release.

The author says AI tools were used heavily in making it.

The download contains no game data. It needs Pokémon Emerald (USA), dumped from your own cartridge, and a BIOS dump from your own Game Boy Advance.

How to set it up

  1. Download the Windows zip or the Linux AppImage and extract or unpack it.
  2. Run the program and point it at your Pokémon Emerald ROM and your GBA BIOS file.
  3. Change widescreen and the other options in the settings.
