Overview
MOTHER 3 Recomp, by josiahg2502-glitch, is a native port of MOTHER 3, Nintendo’s 2006 Game Boy Advance role-playing game, for Windows, Linux and the Steam Deck, and Android. It is built with gbarecomp and recomp-ui, and the developer describes it as released and actively maintained.
It adds a launcher in the game’s own style, where the party walks through the crossroads outside Tazmily, drawn from the player’s ROM. The game gains 16:9 widescreen in the field, battles and cutscenes, smooth motion at the screen’s full refresh rate, save import from other emulators, button prompts in the game’s text that match the controller in use, window flavours, display and scaling options, a Windows bezel and built-in high-quality audio mixing, which can be turned off for speedruns.
Mods are IPS, BPS or UPS patches dropped into a mods folder and ticked in the launcher, and the English, Spanish and other fan translations are supported. No ROMs, BIOS dumps, translation patches or game art ship with the downloads.
How to Set It Up
- Download the Windows zip or the Linux archive and extract it, or install the Android APK.
- Start the game. On the first launch it asks for your BIOS and ROM, and a translation patch if you choose the Japanese ROM.
- Choose Play in the launcher.
