What you need: Dolphin and your own copy of the GameCube game. The textures are laid out for the Spanish PAL release (GKLS69) and also load on the US (GKLE69) and French (GKLF69) releases once their folder is renamed.

The128ReBits' pack is a complete HD texture remaster of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King for Dolphin. It replaces the GameCube version's textures across the board: the heroes' clothing and armour, weapons, the levels from Helm's Deep to Minas Tirith and Mount Doom, effects, menus and background detail.

Each texture was checked, adjusted and tested in game by hand rather than run through an automatic conversion, with the goal of a sharper picture that keeps the game's dark mood, colour palette and art direction. Only textures change: models, animations, audio and gameplay are left as they were, and the game itself is not included.

It comes in two editions. Native is the full-quality set, best for strong PCs playing at high internal resolutions, and loads faster from an SSD. Lite is a smaller, optimised set that needs less RAM and VRAM while still looking far better than the original, for the Steam Deck, Android phones and tablets, laptops and older computers, or whenever Native stutters.

## How to set it up

1. In Dolphin, right-click the game and open **Properties > Info** to see its Game ID, such as `GKLE69` (USA), `GKLS69` (Spain) or `GKLF69` (France).
2. Open **File > Open User Folder**, go into `Load/Textures/` and extract the download there, so you end up with a `Load/Textures/GKLS69/` folder. For another release, rename that folder to your game's ID.
3. Open **Graphics > Advanced** and tick **Load Custom Textures**. Ticking **Prefetch Custom Textures** too stops stutter, if you have the RAM for it; leave it off on phones and low-memory PCs.
