Deep Sea

Port Type: Recompilation

What you need: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (USA, GZLE01) as an extracted disc or an ISO, WBFS or RVZ image, dumped from your own disc.

Deep Sea is a native Windows port of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, made by static recompilation with DolRecomp on ModernGekko, a runtime for GameCube and Wii recompilations. The recompiled game is never shipped: the download is a setup kit that checks your disc, translates the game’s code and compiles it on your PC with a bundled toolchain. The first launch takes about 10 minutes.

It renders interpolated frames for 60 fps, has true 16:9 widescreen with a moved HUD, a cutscene skip, controller remapping, graphics options and save states. It needs Windows 10 or 11 and a Vulkan 1.1 GPU.

It is a young beta, first released in September 2026. The download contains no game data. It needs The Wind Waker (USA), dumped from your own disc.

How to set it up

  1. Download the Windows zip and extract it.
  2. Run DeepSea.exe (or Play Deep Sea.cmd) and choose your disc. The launcher can unpack an ISO, WBFS or RVZ image.
  3. The first launch builds the game from your disc, which takes about 10 minutes and needs about 2 GB of free space. Later launches start straight away.
  4. Hold Z and Start to skip a cutscene.
