Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing
Released: 2001
Console: Nintendo GameCube
Developer: Nintendo EAD

Animal Crossing is a life simulation game developed by Nintendo EAD. It first came out in Japan in 2001 as Doubutsu no Mori+, an expanded version of a Nintendo 64 game, and reached North America in 2002 and Europe in 2004.

The player moves into a village of talking animals, pays off a house loan to the shopkeeper Tom Nook, and fills the days with fishing, catching bugs, digging up fossils, collecting furniture and writing letters to neighbours. The game follows the console’s clock and calendar, so seasons, holidays and shop hours match the real world, and some NES games can be found and played inside it. It started one of Nintendo’s biggest series.

Native ports: ACGC PC Port, a decompilation-based port for Windows.
