WhineCube was one of several GameCube emulators for Windows written in C++. Unlike some of its competitors, it was never able to run commercial games, although it could run some homebrew.

Despite its limited compatibility, WhineCube made progress in other areas of GameCube emulation that later benefited emulators such as Dolphin. In particular, a lot of work went into documenting and emulating the Broadband Adapter (BBA) used for networking, along with various other low-level parts of the hardware.

Like many other GameCube emulators, WhineCube stalled and was eventually discontinued while Dolphin was improving rapidly, and much of the effort from separate projects moved to improving Dolphin.
