Azahar

Azahar is a free and open source Nintendo 3DS emulator for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. It is a high-level emulator that lets 3DS owners play their games with improvements over the original hardware, such as higher resolutions, modern controllers and save states.

The project continues Citra, whose development ended in March 2024. Two forks carried on afterwards: Lime3DS, which focused on user-facing features such as custom screen layouts, and PabloMK7’s fork, which focused on the emulation core and added Artic Base for streaming games and saves from a real 3DS over the local network. The two merged to form Azahar, which is licensed under the GPL version 2.

Azahar is actively developed by a community of contributors. Builds are published for all four platforms, and libretro cores for RetroArch are also available. It needs a 64-bit system with a reasonably fast CPU and a GPU that supports OpenGL 4.3 or Vulkan 1.1.
