What you need: Spider-Man: Edge of Time (USA) for the Xbox 360 with its title update, dumped from your own console's hard drive or a USB storage device. The Identity Crisis DLC is optional. Modified files are refused.

EdgeOfTimeRecompiled is a native port of the Xbox 360 version of Spider-Man: Edge of Time for Windows, Linux (including the Steam Deck) and macOS. The ReXGlue SDK turns the game’s PowerPC code into C++ ahead of time, and a fork of XenosRecomp converts the console’s shaders. A renderer written for the port hooks into the game’s own code instead of emulating the Xbox 360’s GPU.

It adds windowed and full-screen modes, resolution presets and other aspect ratios, customisable graphics presets, anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering. There is a native keyboard and mouse mode with mouse camera control, glyphs to match most controllers, and rebindable controls for both. The audio page adds Spatial Audio and Battle Theme toggles, and a mods page can swap the game’s packages or install custom costumes, with a backup kept to restore the original files. A few upscaled textures for the original suits are included.

The project says it contains no AI-generated code, art or translations. The download contains no game data. It needs the USA Xbox 360 release with its title update, dumped from your own console.

How to set it up

  1. Dump the game, its title update and any DLC from your Xbox 360, following the project’s hard drive or USB dumping guide.
  2. Download the build for your system. Extract the Windows zip, or run the Linux AppImage or macOS disk image.
  3. Run the program and choose Add Files to give the installer your dumped containers or images. It works out what each one holds.
  4. Change the resolution, graphics presets and keyboard, mouse or controller bindings in the settings overlay.
