Sonic Unleashed is a 3D platformer developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega in 2008. Dr. Eggman splits the planet into pieces and releases the monster Dark Gaia, and a side effect turns Sonic into the Werehog after sunset. Sonic travels the world with the amnesiac Chip to restore each continent using the Chaos Emeralds.

Daytime stages are high-speed runs that switch between behind-the-back and side-on views, built on the new Hedgehog Engine and its pre-computed global illumination. Night stages are slower brawling and platforming as the Werehog, who stretches his arms to grab ledges and enemies.

A native PC port of the Xbox 360 version, made by static recompilation, runs on Windows and Linux.
