What you need: Your own Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 Xbox Live Arcade package, game version 0.0.1.2 (Title ID `584108FF`); the launcher checks it. Windows 10 or 11 64-bit with a DirectX 12 graphics card, or experimentally 64-bit Linux or a Steam Deck with Vulkan.

This port runs Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, the 2008 Xbox Live Arcade shooter, natively on Windows, with an experimental Linux and Steam Deck AppImage. The Xbox 360 game's code is statically recompiled to native PC code with the ReXGlue SDK, and the TRG launcher installs the game from the player's own package, refusing any other version of it.

It can run at 30, 60 (the original), 90, 120, 144, 165 or 240 fps or unlimited, with the game's updates kept at 60 Hz so enemies and animations keep their timing. The render resolution goes up to 4x, with FXAA, multisampling, texture filtering, VSync, HDR output, a smooth glow option and an in-game options menu. Controller vibration for gameplay events is an addition of the port.

It is a separate project from the CrownParkComputing native port of the same game, also listed here. The Linux build has had little testing on real hardware.

## How to set it up

1. Download the Windows zip and extract it anywhere you can write to, or download the Linux AppImage and make it executable.
2. Run `geometry_wars_retro_evolved_2.exe` (or the AppImage). The launcher opens.
3. On the Play page, click Install from package... and pick your package: one file with a long hexadecimal name and no extension, found under `Content\0000000000000000\584108FF\000D0000\` on an Xbox 360 drive.
4. Wait for Ready to play, then press PLAY. Settings, saves and scores stay in a `user_data` folder next to the program.
