Case Zero Recomp
What you need: The Xbox Live Arcade package file of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero (title ID 58410A8D, about 825 MB), copied from your own Xbox 360.
Case Zero Recomp is a native port of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero for Windows and Linux, made by static recompilation with XenonRecomp and XenosRecomp on a purpose-built engine with a Vulkan renderer, real XMA audio and native keyboard and mouse controls.
The author calls it essentially complete: it has been played start to finish on Windows and Linux. It raises the level cap to 50, surfaces the game’s hidden 60 fps mode, restores the Xbox build’s unused PC graphics menu, and supports 21:9 screens and MSAA. Two-player online co-op, which the Xbox version had in its code but never showed, works through the XenonLive launcher. The repository includes a guide for the Claude Code AI assistant.
The download contains no game data. It needs the Dead Rising 2: Case Zero XBLA package from your own Xbox 360.
How to set it up
- Download the zip for Windows, or the tarball, AppImage or Steam Deck build for Linux, and unpack it.
- Copy your package file (from
Content/0000000000000000/58410A8D/000D0000/) into theassets/package/folder, or drag it onto the launcher window. - Run
cz_runtime.exe(./cz_runtimeon Linux). The first run unpacks the package and prepares the shaders. - Saves and settings are kept outside the game folder, so a new version can replace it.
