What you need: The Xbox Live Arcade package (STFS container) of Banjo-Tooie, copied from your own Xbox 360 profile.

Banjo-Tooie (XBLA) Recomp is a native port of the 2009 Xbox Live Arcade release of Banjo-Tooie for Windows, Linux and the Steam Deck, made by static recompilation with ReXGlue. Each release is a single-file launcher that extracts your XBLA package and runs the game.

The author reports it playable end to end, with controller, keyboard and mouse, saving and the launcher tested on Windows and on a Steam Deck in Gaming Mode. A few functions missed by the static analysis can still cause crashes, and play beyond the opening areas is lightly tested. The author says Claude was used as a pair-programming assistant throughout.

The download contains no game data. It needs the Banjo-Tooie XBLA package from your own Xbox 360.

How to set it up

  1. Download the single-file launcher: Banjo-Tooie.exe for Windows or Banjo-Tooie for Linux and Steam Deck.
  2. On Linux, make the file executable.
  3. Run it and point it at your XBLA package. It extracts the game data and starts the game.
