isle-portable is a portable version of LEGO Island, Mindscape’s 1997 open-world game for children, based on the isledecomp project’s decompilation of the game’s code. It replaces the Windows-only libraries the game used with cross-platform ones, so the game runs natively on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, consoles such as the Switch, and even in a web browser.
The project’s aim is to preserve the original experience faithfully rather than rewrite it, but it does add support for modern displays, touch screens and controllers, and light modding through extensions.
The builds are continuous builds of the project’s latest code, and they need the files of the player’s own LEGO Island CD.
How to Set It Up
- The easiest way is the project’s guided installer on its website, which walks through every system step by step.
- Or download the build for your system here, unpack it and point it at the files from your LEGO Island CD when it asks.
- Builds come from the project’s rolling releases of its latest code, so an occasional bug is possible.
