What you need: The data of Heroes of Might and Magic II (the `DATA` and `MAPS` folders), from a CD or the GOG or Ubisoft release, ideally with The Price of Loyalty. The free demo of the game also works.

fheroes2 is a recreation of the engine of Heroes of Might and Magic II, New World Computing's 1996 turn-based strategy game, written from scratch in C++. It plays the original campaigns and maps of The Succession Wars and The Price of Loyalty with the player's own game files.

Besides running on today's systems, it adds high-resolution and widescreen support, an improved computer opponent, numerous fixes for the original's bugs and many interface improvements, such as better battle and kingdom screens, while keeping the rules of the original.

It also includes a map editor and runs on handhelds such as the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Switch.

## How to set it up

1. Download the Windows installer or zip, the macOS zip, the Linux zip or the Android package.
2. Copy the `ANIM`, `DATA`, `MAPS` and `MUSIC` folders of your Heroes II install (or of the free demo) next to `fheroes2`, or let the Windows installer find them.
3. Start fheroes2 and choose a resolution in the settings.
